Dude, you can do tons of things with spuds.
You can make tater salad, smash 'em up like Celticgreen said, you can slice those tubers up and make French Fries, if you have a broken light bulb in a socket, you can cut one of those bad boys up and twist out the busted light with it, (Bob Villa trick)
You can bake or nuke 'em with bacon and sour cream...................

i was gonna do my first ever baked potato, and ended up buying a whole sack for some damn reason. hash browns would be a good skill to learn.....
